Here is the current roadmap for future releases of Aciqra.
- Aciqra 1.3: Minor feature addition to Aciqra I line.
- Expected release date in December, 2009.
- Show topocentric position rather than geocentric.
- Possible addition of a few widgets.
- Darken sky to be friendier to the eye.
- Correct DST bug so rendering will not be 1 hour off.
- Use more accurate catalog of stars.
- Aciqra 1.4*: Huge feature release with most changes in calculation.
- Expected release date in April, 2010.
- Move to a "reduced" VSOP87D method.
- Draw sky with gradients.
- Display information on objects when clicked.
- Find object feature to go directly to a chosen object.
- Display of the Milky Way in the night sky.
- Fix horizon bug by making horizon for 360° around.
- Aciqra 2.0: Major rewrite of code to I/C/GLUT/OpenGL.
- Expected release date in December of 2010.
- Rewrite of source code from scratch.
- Accounting of precession of the epochs.
- Stellar proper motion correction.
- Nutation corrections.
- Use of complete VSOP87 for planets.
- Accounting for altitude above sea level.
- Update minor body tracking algorithm.
- Account for barametric pressure in atmosphere.
- Daylight rendering along with dusk & dawn.
- Calculations for positions of moons.
- Calculate positions of true double stars.
* Aciqra 1.4 may or may not be commissioned depending on if anyone would willingly take over the production of the Aciqra I line.
