About the Project

Aciqra is an open source virtual planetarium and sky map program. It has the ability to track nearly 120,000 stars, the 8 planets, all 109 Messier object, the sun and the moon from any location on Earth to an accuracy of 1 degree for the next 50 years. It also includes a wealth of built-in tools called "widgets" which include a solar system viewer, an eclipse/transit predictor and a conjunction engine.

The Aciqra project is the world's largest and most active open source GDI-based planetarium available on the internet. This reflects the tremendous amount of energy and the hundreds of hours of work put towards creating and perfecting it. In return, we ask for nothing more than your satisfaction. Please register if you like this program and/or wish to help move it into the future.

Documentation

A simple PDF documentation file has been written on the project. This will be further expanded in future releases with more info. The current documentation is written for Aciqra 1.1 though use with Aciqra 1.0 is also possible. Download Documentation (PDF). Documentation for Aciqra 1.2 will replace this version in a few months after release.

This documentation file is largely incomplete. If you have questions on usage which have not been answered in this file, please post a message on the Aciqra Forums.

Licensing

Aciqra 1.2.2 and later version are licensed under the Unrestricted Forever agreement, a free software license similar in spirit to the GPL. Previous verions are licensed under the "Caglow Open Agreement" or COA. It permits free redistribution and modification with attribution intact. For the actual license: Caglow Open Agreement (RTF)
