Aciqra (uh-SEE-kruh) is a free and open source planetarium program built for use in the real world. New to the project or its goals? Please read about the project to get a sense of what it is, how it is different and its various releases.

The current stable release is Aciqra 2.1.0 and includes:

  • Full NGC and IC catalogs w/ 13000 deep space objects
  • Interface designed for efficiency
  • Correction for atmospheric refraction
  • Night vision mode
  • Correction for nutation and precession
  • Calculate proper motions for stars
  • Selecting objects to show details
  • Constellation boundaries
  • Option to save a view as an image
  • Angle indicator (simulates views from an eyepiece)
  • Comets and asteroids tracking
  • Earth's umbra and penumbra for lunar eclipse simulations
  • New release updater and downloader
